Audi has revealed pricing and specification for the Q6 e-tron, which is on sale now.

The fully electric SUV, which includes a performance SQ6 variant, is the brand’s latest electric vehicle to launch and a rival to the BMW iX3.

It’s built on a new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, co-developed with Porsche and also underpinning the new electric Macan. Audi says the new platform enables major developments in everything from performance, driving range and charging to design, dynamics and “technological sophistication”.

The Q6 e-tron also uses a new E3 (End-to-End) electronic architecture, representing the “technological spearhead” of the Audi portfolio.

First to arrive are the Q6 e-tron quattro and SQ6 e-tron quattro, which are priced at £68,975 and £92,950 respectively. The former is available with a choice of Sport, S line or Edition 1 specification options, with the flagship S model available in Edition 1 specification.

Both feature a twin-motor setup to deliver all-wheel drive with a rear-biased torque distribution system to enhance driving dynamics. The Q6 e-tron quattro delivers 388hp and accelerates from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds. The SQ6 e-tron ups this to 490hp, or 517hp with launch control activated, and takes 4.3 seconds to dispatch the 0-62mph sprint. Top speeds are 130mph and 142mph respectively.

Both feature a newly developed 100kWh lithium-ion battery. Official WLTP range is 381 miles for the Q6 e-tron quattro and 358 for the SQ6 e-tron quattro. They also offer superfast charging at up to 270kW courtesy of 800V technology, enabling 158 miles of charge in some 10 minutes and delivering a 10 to 80% state of charge in around 21 minutes.

At charging stations with 400V technology, the Q6 e-tron automatically divides the battery into two at equal voltage, which can then be charged in parallel with up to 150kW. Depending on the state of charge, both halves of the battery are first equalised and then charged simultaneously.

The new models also deliver “exceptional connectivity, infotainment and driver assistance systems”, enabled by the increased computing power of the new E3 1.2 electronic architecture.

Later in 2024, the Q6 e-tron line-up will expand to include an entry-level variant called the Q6 SUV e-tron (£59,975). This rear-wheel drive version uses a smaller 83kWh battery pack. It will be joined by an additional rear-wheel model called the Q6 SUV e-tron performance (£63,475), which will use the larger 100kWh (gross) battery.

The launch of the new model also heralds the arrival of a simplified naming convention for the powertrain-related element of the brand’s model classifications, replacing the existing tiered numerical structure.

The first phase of UK launch will be named Q6 e-tron quattro Sport, quattro S line, or quattro Edition 1.

The entry-level, rear-wheel version that arrives later will be designated as Q6 e-tron Sport, S line, or Edition 1. The more powerful rear-wheel drive version will be classified as Q6 e-tron performance Sport, performance S line or performance Edition 1.
