What Car? Car of the Year Award winners for 2017 revealed
What Car? has revealed the winners of its 2017 Car of the Year Awards, with the BMW 5 Series fending off stiff competition from a final short list including the Skoda Kodiaq and SEAT Ateca.
BMW 5-Series was named What Car? Car of the Year 2017.
Held last night at London’s Park Lane, the awards saw the 5 Series awarded the Luxury Car of the Year title as well as beating all other category winners to take the overall title, based on its interior design, driving capabilities and driver assistance technology.
Jim Holder, editorial director at What Car?, said: “It’s hard to recall another year with so many exceptional new models vying for our overall Car of the Year award, which makes the BMW 5 Series’ victory all the more impressive.”
“The 520d SE with optional variable dampers is the pick of the 5 Series range. But whichever version you choose, you’ll be getting one of the classiest and most comfortable cars on sale today.”
Meanwhile other newcomers were also awarded, with the new Seat Ateca taking the Small SUV of the Year prize and the Skoda Kodiaq awarded Large SUV of the Year.
The Safety Award was presented by What Car? and Thatcham Research
while the Peugeot 3008 took the Technology prize for its i-Cockpit interior layout.
