VW Golf named What Car? Used Car of the Year
The judging panel, which included Alan Senior, head of valuation services at CDL Ltd and David Gerrans of Warranty Direct, said that the Mk6 Golf ‘has long stood out as excellent to drive, and this is backed up by a practical interior and exceptional refinement’.
They added that the best example of value for money is the 1.4 TSI SE which, with prices starting from as low as £6200, is within reach of most family budgets.
In addition to choosing the overall Used Car of the Year, the judges picked winners and runners-up in nine categories, based on running costs, reliability, driveability, quality, longevity, safety features and desirability.
