It follows an announcement last week that the carmaker would be recalling vehicles registered since May to examine a component within steering system. Owners are advised not to drive the cars before they have been inspected. Extending the dates covered is said to affect an additional 1,000 cars across Europe.

Owners can find out if their vehicle is affected by going to www.vauxhall.co.uk/recall.html, or call the Vauxhall Customer Assistance line on 0800 026 0034 (09.00 to 19.00 Monday to Friday and until 17.00 at weekends) or The AA on 0800 553388 (07.00 to midnight 7 days per week).

Vauxhall will automatically contact affected drivers by letter using the DVSA (VOSA) recognised recall process utilising DVLA registration information.
