The three-man squad from West Yorkshire Police, who form part of the Regional Police Planning Team, chose the Octavia vRS for its space, performance, and versatility.

The new addition to the fleet will be used in the first instance to transport surveying equipment as the Planning Team maps out the route to be followed by cyclists in the 2014 Tour de France. The Octavia vRS Estate will then be deployed to support the competition, which starts in Leeds on 5 July.

Inspector Terry Murgatroyd, operations support services, West Yorkshire Police, commented: ‘We are very grateful to be working in partnership with Skoda UK and for its support of British policing in the run-up to this world-class event.

‘The availability of this vehicle will make our job much easier as it will enhance our flexibility to attend meetings and events across the region and the country.’
