Point S UK has set its sights on becoming the UK’s largest independent automotive service network by 2035.

Announcing the ambition during the network’s annual conference last weekend, MD Ali Yilmaz said he believes opportunities for growth have never been greater and that recent market exits have presented a “fertile planting ground” for growth.

Point S International already lays claim to being the world’s largest independent tyre dealer and vehicle maintenance network; it’s present in 51 countries on five continents.

Live in the UK since 2011, the British network now has more than 340 points of sale and is growing rapidly as independent maintenance centres seek new revenue streams amidst electrification challenges.

Yilmaz said it was the optimum time to expand the firm’s UK network of independent automotive service providers.

“The independent sector already represents approximately one-third of the UK market and continues to grow. We’re observing repair centres evolving their business models in response to electrification. With electric vehicles requiring less mechanical servicing, many workshops are focusing on tyres, diagnostics and other forms of vehicle maintenance as their future profit centres.”

This trend is helping to spearhead growth for Point S UK, which Yilmaz believes has been left in a favourable position following recent contractions from competitors in the traditional tyre retail market.

While many networks are focusing on reducing network capital and evolving business models into mobile offerings, Point S believes there is still a place for full-service automotive maintenance centres.

“In today’s digital landscape, customers increasingly value friendly, personal and convenient in-person service. Vehicles represent one of life’s most significant investments, and people want to establish trust with those safeguarding these assets. The UK market presents exceptional growth opportunities for Point S to expand and become the nation’s largest automotive service network,” Yilmaz explained.

Other initiatives that will aid the network’s growth ambitions in 2025 were announced at the conference and include a major new product launch, further customer events and continued innovation for the existing Point S tyre range and network programme.
