New service to help London fleets identify highest-polluting vehicles
London businesses and authorities can now find out the real-world emissions of their cars and vans under a new service.
New service to help London fleets identify highest-polluting vehicles
Powered by data from Emissions Analytics, the Fleet Check service enables operators to provide details of their vehicles and receive in return a report showing their most polluting vehicles – rated from A+ (best) to H (worst) based on the level of NOx emissions they produce on the road. Fleets can also get analysis of how replacing cars and vans with like-for-like Euro 6 models will impact on overall average emissions ratings for the fleet.
The customised service for fleets launches alongside a Cleaner Vehicle Checker aimed at individual motorists. Also underpinned by data from Emissions Analytics, the service provide an independent rating of nearly all new Euro 6 cars and many vans and is intended to help drivers make informed purchases.
The data comes from independent emissions tests provided by Emissions Analytics through Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS) and the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) through roadside testing. A further ‘Used Vehicle Checker’ function will follow in 2018 under a new roadside testing programme currently being run in partnership with the TRUE Initiative.
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan said: “This scheme shows how the combined efforts of academic, engineering and health experts can join together to help consumers and ultimately help improve air quality.”
