Subaru has pricing and specifications for its all-new Forester as UK orders open.

The new Forester delivers improved refinement, enhanced driving dynamics and the latest safety tech.

First launched in 1997, the brand’s SUV now arrives in sixth-generation guise, priced from £38,995 and delivering improved refinement, enhanced driving dynamics and the latest safety tech.

It’s built on the latest version of the Subaru Global Platform, delivering technical advances across its chassis and powertrain. Engineering enhancements, combined with suspension revisions, deliver a claimed 10% improvement in chassis torsional rigidity compared to its predecessor for improved driving dynamics.

As before, the Subaru comes with permanent symmetrical all-wheel drive and the e-Boxer mild hybrid powertrain but with improvements. The 2.0-litre horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine, hybrid system and Lineartronic transmission have been optimised and the new dual-pinion electric power steering system is said to provide improved response and more natural feedback.

The enhanced on-road dynamics are paired with claimed class-leading off-road ability, made possible thanks to all-wheel drive traction and a claimed class leading 220mm of ground clearance, with approach, ramp breakover and departure angles of 20.4-degrees, 25.7-degrees and 21.0-degrees respectively, complemented by a 1,870kg towing capacity.

The latest iteration of Subaru’s Eyesight Driver Assist Technology debuts, representing a “significant advancement” in collision prevention safety. Now featuring a wide-angle monocular camera and new front radar, the system offers enhanced recognition performance across its 15 functions, including five new features.

Chief among these is the emergency driving stop system – a first for Subaru – which activates if the driver becomes incapacitated. This works alongside the upgraded Driver Monitoring System, which now offers additional safety and convenience functions.

A more refined interior sees cabin noise reduced by a claimed 39% and there’s new more hip-hugging front seats with benefits to ‘head sway’, movement and driver comfort on long journeys while enhancing conversation clarity, according to Subaru.

Tech debuts include a new 11.6-inch full HD infotainment system with improved operability – and physical buttons and switches for climate control and other key functions. The updated infotainment suite includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as enhanced navigation supporting both Apple Maps and What3words. The interior also comes with both Type-C and Type-A charging ports.

Boot capacity is 508 litres, expanding to 1,720 litres with rear seats folded, and there’s an optional hands-free power tailgate. All-round direct vision has been optimised through carefully designed pillars and an extensive glass area. This is complemented by the new 360-degree multi-view monitor system, aspherical door mirrors, and LED cornering lamps.

The line-up starts with the Forester Limited, priced from £38,995 and equipped with Eyesight 4.0 driver assistance tech, 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless charger, memory driver seats, electronically adjustable and heated front seats, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus 360-degree surround view camera.

Next up is the Forester Field, starting from £40,440 and adding in privacy glass, heated steering wheel, powered gesture tailgate and in-built satellite navigation.

At the top of the chain, the Forester Touring, priced from £42,995, gains 19-inch alloy wheels, heated rear seats, power sliding UV glass sunroof and black leather interior trim.

Lorraine Bicton, managing director of Subaru UK, said: “The significant advances in this new generation of Forester, particularly in terms of refinement and technology, come at a perfect time as we continue to strengthen our presence in the UK market.

“This new Forester will play a crucial role in our UK growth strategy, appealing to both our loyal customers and a new generation of SUV buyers, who prioritise genuine capability alongside comfort and safety.”
