Priced from £27,950, the Q50 2.2 diesel marks Infiniti’s entry into the four-cylinder market whilst offering strong levels of performance (168bhp, 295lb.ft of torque) with emissions of 115g/km CO2.

The line-up for the new model, which is expected to start first deliveries in September, will also include the 3.5-litre, 359bhp Direct Response Hybrid, which returns 155g/km of CO2 whilst delivering a 0-62mph time of 5.3 seconds. This model will be available from £40,000.

As well as offering fresh design, the new Q50 will also stand out for handling technologies, influenced by Formula One World Champion and Infiniti director of performance, Sebastian Vettel. This includes fast-responding Direct Adaptive Steering –the world's first automotive steer-by-wire system – and Direct Response Hybrid powertrain. In addition, both rear-wheel drive and intelligent all-wheel drive are available.

Standard features include Infiniti InTouch customisable digital environment with dual touch-screens, Infiniti Drive Mode Selector, engine stop-start, rear-view camera, Active Noise Control, Active Trace Control, dual-zone climate control, 17-inch alloy wheels, Scratch Shield paint, split folding rear-seat backrests and ski hatch, multifunction steering wheel, voice recognition system and Bluetooth mobile connectivity and audio streaming.

Infiniti also promises grades, packages and options to appeal to the fleet market as well as private buyers. Full details of the Q50 line-up and a complete price list will be confirmed from 1st July.
