Harrow Council to get 100 ‘clutter-free’ on-street charging points
New ‘flat and flush’ charging points are being rolled out across the streets of Harrow to catapult drivers’ switch to EVs.

The rollout will make it easier for residents without driveways to conveniently charge their cars closer to home
Around 100 of the innovative charging points will be installed across the borough in a tie-up between Harrow Council and Trojan Energy.
The rollout – funded through the Government’s On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme (ORCS) – is already underway and will boost the borough’s EV infrastructure, making it easier for residents without driveways to conveniently charge their cars closer to home.
Trojan Energy’s charging technology is designed to sit flat and flush in the pavement and remain hidden when not in use – eliminating street clutter and ensuring full access for all pavement users. The chargers deliver up to 22kW plus a simple plug-and-play experience using a personal adaptor for an effortless charging experience.
Councillor David Ashton, Cabinet Member for Finance and Highways at Harrow Council, said: “This will be welcoming news for residents. Not everyone has a driveway, so this is significant infrastructure that will help those charge their car near their home. It’s great for the environment, great for sustainable travel and doesn’t clutter the streets.
“This is one of many ways we are putting residents first, by making it easier for those thinking about switching to electric or hybrid.”
The project, due to complete later in the year, coincides with Trojan Energy’s work with Camden, which is installing just shy of 600 on-street charging points.
Launched in 2016, Trojan Energy’s patented charging technology provides convenient on-street electric vehicle charging, supporting the EV transition for the estimated nine million households in the UK without access to a driveway. Its work is being propelled by a £26m investment round announced early 2024.
Ian Mackenzie, CEO of Trojan Energy, said: “At Trojan Energy, our mission is to ensure everyone can benefit from the transition to electric vehicles, particularly those without access to off-street parking. This collaboration marks another meaningful step towards making reliable, accessible charging a standard feature of streets across the UK.”
