Revealed at the Paris Motor Show last autumn, the latest Rio is again available in three-door and five-door form and features a new exterior with redesigned front and rear bumpers. The lower front air intake has been redesigned, as have the front fog light housings, which feature twin chromed horizontal bars.

Interior revisions improve the quality of the cabin, with all versions gaining new high-gloss black trim on the centre fascia and new upholstery, apart from on the “4” trim level, which was introduced to the Rio range at the start of 2014 and continues with black leather upholstery with faux leather sections.

Meanwhile the “2” and “3” trim levels now gain a seven-inch touchscreen sat nav as standard, bringing European mapping and a Traffic Messaging Channel (TMC), along with an integrated reversing camera.

A DAB digital radio is now standard on all versions of the Rio, whilst grades “1” and “1 Air” now have electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, while in grades “2”, “3” and “4” these also fold electrically and have LED indicators.

Tyre pressure monitoring becomes standard across the entire range and a temporary spare wheel and tyre replaces the previous tyre repair kit in all models except the entry-level 1.1-litre CRDi diesel, which has a bespoke 15-inch wheel-and-tyre combination to help it achieve its fuel economy and CO2 emission figures of 88.3mpg and 86g/km.

The Rio continues with an unchanged line-up of four engines. Besides the 1.1-litre CRDi engine, the Rio is available with 1.25-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engines and a 1.4-litre CRDi diesel. EcoDynamics technologies are standard on all Rio diesels and the 1.4-litre petrol models with manual transmission.

The new model is available to order now with pricing start from £10,345 for the three-door "1" 1.25 84bhp 5-speed manual and £10,495 for the five-door version, rising to £15,545 for the three-door "3" 1.4 CRDi 89bhp 6-speed manual ISG and £17,445 for the five-door "4" 1.4 CRDi 89bhp 6-speed manual ISG.
