Facelifted BMW X7 revealed with new styling and engines
BMW’s facelifted X7 is now available to order, introducing new styling, new engines and latest-gen tech.
The new X7 showcases the latest BMW design language, and also comes with enhanced standard equipment, additional driver assistance systems and 48V mild hybrid tech for all engine variants for the first time
Priced from £80,980, the new X7 incorporates the latest BMW design language, including new split headlight units, with updated adaptive matrix LED headlights – including Adaptive Headlights and cornering light functions, as well as BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling high beam – as standard.
The latest version of BMW’s luxury seven-seater also gets a newly designed kidney grille with cascade lighting, a refined rear design with three-dimensional light units and light alloy wheels up to 23 inches, a first for the brand.
Interior revisions include a new Curved Display and an instrument panel including an ambient light bar. Comfort seats, upholstered in merino leather, come as standard, with heating for both driver and front passenger, alongside the four-zone automatic climate control system, ambient lighting and a panoramic glass sunroof.
The X7 also gains the latest generation of iDrive, BMW Operating System 8 and new digital services while the functionality of the automated driving and parking systems has been significantly expanded.
The new X7 can be ordered as an option with six seats rather than the standard seven. In six-seat configuration, the two individual seats in the second row are comfort seats with integral armrests and comfort cushions. In both models, the second-row seats can slide back and forward electrically.
Boot space stands at 326 litres, rising to a maximum 2,120 litres. To simplify loading, the standard air suspension can be lowered at the touch of a button while the 2022 X7 also has a split tailgate, with standard electric opening and closing of both sections. All models come as standard with a three-section panoramic glass sunroof, while the Sky Lounge panoramic glass sunroof is available as an option.
Three trims are offered – Excellence, M Sport and a new M Performance version. An M Sport Package Pro is optionally available on M Sport models or standard on the X7 M60i xDrive and includes an uprated M Sport exhaust system for six-cylinder models.
The optional ‘BMW M 50 Years’ badge can be selected exclusively on M60i models and featured on the bonnet, tailgate and hubcaps – drawing on the heritage of the early racing cars created by the BMW M division, which was founded in 1972.
Engine line-up brings a range of six- and eight-cylinder engines, a new eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, state-of-the-art chassis technology and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. Top of the range is the V8-powered M60i xDrive, which delivers 530hp with 750Nm of torque, a 4.7-second time for the 0-62mph sprint and a 155mph top speed. It’s priced at £103,600.
Sales of the 2022 BMW X7 start in August.
