Citroën C5 Aircross gets upmarket makeover
Citroën has updated the C5 Aircross with redesigned styling, enhanced infotainment technology and latest Advanced Comfort seats, bringing a more upmarket approach to its family SUV.
The facelift introduces a new front-end with revised badging, new headlights and a reworked front grille. Styling is also enhanced by new functional ‘air curtains’, positioned either side of the front bumper, and a redesigned air intake that’s already being used for the C4 and forthcoming C5 X.
The C5 Aircross also receives new 3D tail-lights and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels along with gloss black roof bars and door mirrors. New body colours and colour packs are available, providing fresh personalisation options.
Pierre-Yves Couineau, new C5 Aircross project manager, said: “C5 Aircross has been recognised since its launch as the most comfortable and flexible SUV in its category, and has now been given a makeover to assert a more prestigious, modern and dynamic personality. While building on its strengths of comfort, on-board spaciousness and modularity, it has matured to become more elegant and dynamic, with sharper exterior styling and more modern high-quality colours, and materials for the interior.”
The cabin debuts a revised centre console with a new e-Toggle gear selector for plug-in hybrid and EAT8 automatic versions, a driving mode selection button, a new layout for the optional Grip Control function and, on PHEV versions, a driving mode selector. The central console also includes two USB ports and a wireless charger, depending on trim.
The C5 Aircross also introduces a new, larger 10-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, repositioned and giving direct access to climate control functions and Citroën’s My Citroën Drive satellite navigation – all standard equipment across all UK versions. It’s accompanied by a fully customisable 12.3-inch digital driver’s display.
The new generation of Citroën Advanced Comfort seats also arrive. Already seen in the new C4 and forthcoming C5 X, these are designed to offer “the very best in terms of passenger and driver comfort”. A new high-end perforated leather upholstery option also debuts along with four new Advanced Comfort interior styling themes.
Driver assistance technologies are carried over and provide a total of 19 different systems, including Highway Driver Assist, which combines Adaptive Cruise Control with a Stop & Go function, and the Active Lane Departure Warning system.
As before, the C5 Aircross offers three individually sliding, reclining and folding rear seats, bringing MPV-style practicality, along with boot space said to be a sector benchmark and rising from 580 litres to 720 litres for petrol and diesel versions, and from 460 litres to 600 litres for plug-in hybrid versions.
Plug-in hybrid models also bring a fully electric range of 34 miles and 7.4kW charging capability, giving a full charge in under two hours from a domestic 32A wallbox.
Prices for the reworked Citroën C5 Aircross will be announced shortly and first deliveries start during Q2 2022.
