Vehicle remarketing specialist Aston Barclay has appointed Eddie Thomson as its first chief operating officer (COO).

Eddie Thomson, Aston Barclay chief operating officer

Thomson brings almost two decades of industry experience to Aston Barclay. Previous roles include national operations director for SMA, sales and operations director for BCA, and most recently head of business development for Adesa.

In the newly created role of COO, Thomson will be part of the executive leadership team at Aston Barclay Group and will oversee all of Aston Barclay’s auction operations, as well as strategic projects.

The new COO role has been created as Aston Barclay reports a strong period of growth, including an influx of new vendor partnerships and the launch of a new sale at its Chelmsford centre in response to buyer demand.

Greg MacLeod, executive chairman at Aston Barclay, said: “We have recently extended our operating hours to provide greater flexibility for customers, and Eddie’s appointment as COO further demonstrates our commitment to providing excellent customer service. Eddie’s expertise and leadership will continue to enhance our overall service quality, ensuring that our customers benefit from optimised auction processes and even quicker turnaround times.”

Thomson picked up: “Those who know me within the remarketing industry will tell you that I am passionate about implementing operational excellence to provide a first-class customer service. I look forward to working with our customers to maximise the conversion of their vehicles, as well as reducing the number of days it takes to sell them.”
