Facelifted Renault Captur now available to order

Renault’s updated Renault Captur is now available to order, complete with a striking new look and latest technology.

The updated Captur gets a bolder new look and latest technology

Priced from £21,095, the Ford Puma and Nissan Juke rival is currently in its second generation and the facelifted version adopts the brand’s latest design language with a bold front-end featuring full LED lights. It also uses the new Renault Nouvel’R one-piece logo as part of the multi-faceted grille, and a higher, more horizontal bonnet, while carrying over the two-tone colour scheme.

The Clio’s ‘big brother’ also delivers a revamped cabin, featuring a new 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen with the OpenR Link infotainment system and in-built Google, based on Android Automotive 12 and with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and wireless smartphone charger as standard across the range.

The interior is also available with a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, USB-C sockets and a new upholstery made from recycled fabrics – leather and chrome are no longer available as part of Renault’s drive for enhanced sustainability.

Interior space is said to be class leading, particularly for rear-seat passengers, with a rear bench seat that slides by up to 16cm. The Captur also has 24.7 litres of in-cabin storage available, matched by boot volume of up to 536 litres, expanding up to 1,334 litres with the rear seats folded.

Engine line-up is carried over and includes the 90hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder TCe petrol and the E-Tech 1.6-litre full hybrid 145.

The hybrid combines a 94hp 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol with a 49hp electric motor, 18kW starter generator and a 1.2kWh battery. It cuts WLTP CO2 emissions to 105g/km compared with the previous generation and has official economy of up to 60.1mpg.

Three grades are available: Evolution, Techno and Esprit Alpine, which makes its first appearance on the Captur.

Evolution and Techno are available with both powertrains, while the range-topping Esprit Alpine comes solely with the E-Tech.

The lead-in model is Evolution TCe 90, priced at £21,095 and followed by the Evolution E-Tech full hybrid 145 at £24,595.

They come with standard specification that includes 17-inch alloy wheels, a shark fin antenna, dark-tinted rear windows and tailgate, full LED automatic headlights with automatic high/low beam, automatic windscreen wipers, rear parking sensors, and a rear-view camera.

The interior comes with the 10.4-inch OpenR Link touchscreen with Arkamys six-speaker audio system and wireless smartphone connectivity, plus a wireless smartphone charger. The equipment list continues with automatic air conditioning with one-touch quick demist and air quality regulator, central console with sliding armrest, electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, hands-free keycard, and synthetic leather steering wheel.

Advanced driver assistance systems include cruise control and speed limiter, traffic sign recognition with overspeed prevention, active emergency braking system, driver attention alert, distance warning alert, front and rear detection with emergency lane keep assist including solid line, oncoming traffic and road edge detection, my Safety Shield, and hill start assist.

The Techno trim is priced from £22,795 for the TCe 90 and £26,295 for the E-Tech. It gains 18-inch alloy wheels, longitudinal roof bars, front and side parking sensors, electrically folding door mirrors, auto-dimming rear view mirror with light and rain sensor, modular boot floor, height-adjustable front passenger seat, Multi-sense driving modes, 10.4-inch OpenR Link touchscreen with Google services built-in, 10.25-inch digital driver display, and two additional rear USB-C ports.

The Esprit Alpine is priced at £27,995 in E-Tech guise only and features 19-inch alloy wheels, two-tone paint with contrasting black roof colour, front grille with 3D graphics, and gloss black window frames. The interior features Esprit Alpine styling, aluminium sports pedals, auto-dimming frameless rear-view mirror, flying console for auto transmission, driver and front passenger seat with electric height adjustment, heated front seats, heated synthetic leather steering wheel, sun visor with mirror and light, and adaptive cruise control with speed limiter.

First deliveries of the facelifted Renault Captur start in quarter 3 2024.
