Zipcar welcomes plans for car clubs in EV strategy for London

In his announcement, Boris Johnson announced the ULEV Delivery Plan, which sets out a wide range of actions to support the uptake of electric and ultra-low emission vehicles. Car clubs will play a key role, committing to at least 50% ultra low emission vehicles by 2025.

In response, Mark Walker, general manager of Zipcar UK, said: "Zipcar welcomes the ambitious EV strategy for London released today by TfL and the GLA. Zipcar believes that car clubs have a vital role to play in the popularisation of electric vehicles and making London the Ultra Low Emission Vehicle Capital of Europe. With over one million car club members forecast by 2025 (Source TfL Car Club Strategy 2015) using a potential network of over 5,000 EVs and PHE’s (Source: Car club industry commitment July 2015) low emission technology will soon become a familiar sight on the streets of the capital.  We look forward to working with TfL and the GLA on the vital infrastructure needed to facilitate this bold plan.”
