On having a work-life balance

As a working mum with three children my life is pretty full on and not in a way which allows much 'me time' in the mix.

A wise customer summed things up for me when he said "we are here for a good time and not for a long time". I love my family, and I also love my job. Enjoying both elements of my life means that my work / life balance finds a way through that works for me. Having said that, like most working parents, there are days when I could do with a few more hours!

On working for a global leasing company

Working for LeasePlan gives the best of both worlds. We have autonomy to ensure that we make the best decisions for our customers and our business on a local level, but we are supported by the global reach and negotiating power of the largest leasing company in the world. With over 1.42 million vehicles on the road worldwide, we have a lot of positive negotiating power.

Operating in 32 countries gives LeasePlan a key selling point: our corporate customers have the opportunity to deal with one provider on a global basis. It also gives the UK team access to great ideas and examples of best practice from colleagues in many countries.

On being a leader

Leaders are only able to perform when they are supported by a great team. It’s certainly important to have vision and ambition, but working with motivated, enthusiastic, able people is what makes any vision a reality.

It's important to ensure that your team are empowered and supported to push the boundaries – that's how we develop personally and how our business develops.

It's also important to recognise that we will all make a few mistakes along the way. As long as we learn from these and don't repeat them, we will have a stronger team and a stronger business as a result.

On working with customers

Working with customers is easily my favourite part of the job. Understanding a customers’ business needs and delivering solutions that help them improve their business is incredibly rewarding. This can be anything from new digital tools to help a fleet manager control costs, reducing vehicle off-road time for an LCV fleet or the excitement of a salary sacrifice driver taking delivery of their brand new vehicle.

Customer feedback ensures we are delivering what our customers need from us today and helps us to evolve to exceed our customers’ expectations in the future.
