The leasing specialist said it was looking to take “bolder steps in the leasing sector and grow outside the boundaries of the traditional company car market”, driven by its newly appointed head of sales and marketing, Tom Brewer.

Brewer brings some 12 years’ experience at LeasePlan, including his most recent role as sales director and two years as head of product services. His appointment by VWFS | Fleet will see him head up a team of 33 people with a remit across all sales activities, customer management and engagement, enhancing the firm’s fleet portfolio as well as developing relationships with key business partners.

Brewer will look to further grow the VWFS | Fleet market share in the SME and commercial vehicle sector and explore new channels such as introducing new premium value added products through to developing digital marketing and sales activity.

“The business car market is facing challenges,” he commented. “With an unattractive company car tax regime reducing demand and high levels of competition pushing down margins we have to look at new ways of differentiating ourselves and continuing our strong organic growth. One of our advantages is being part of both a large automotive group and a robust financial institution; this gives us the scope and resources to offer the latest products and services that are at the same time cost-effective for our customers and profitable for us.”
