Volvo XC60 ‘aces’ Euro NCAP tests

The new Volvo XC60 has become the best all-round performer in Euro NCAP’s 2017 tests to date, including setting one of the best adult occupant protection results on record.

The latest ratings from the safety organisation saw eight new vehicles tested – all of which scored the maximum five-star rating. For the Volvo XC60, the tests showed the second-generation model gained a 98% adult occupant protection rating, with 87% for child occupant protection and 76% for pedestrian. The XC60 also scooped 95% for safety assist – 40% above the average for cars tested this year, with the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system scoring maximum points when tested at highway speeds, as well as successfully avoiding collisions at all test speeds and in all scenarios.

Other vehicles gaining five-star results in the tests covered the Volkswagen T-Roc, Skoda Karoq, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, Citroën C3 Aircross, Opel Crossland X and the new VW Polo and SEAT Arona.
