Volvo teases Geneva-bound estate concept car

By / 10 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

While very little is visible, the concept shows design elements from the Concept XC Coupe shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January in what appear to be a near production-ready form and offers the clearest glimpse yet of the forthcoming XC90 SUV and possibly the next V70 estate.

The all-new XC90 will arrive at the end of the year, replacing the current model which has been on sale since 2002. It debuts Volvo’s new lightweight Scalable Platform Architecture and will feature its new modular Drive-E 2.0-litre Drive-E petrol and diesel engines, as well as a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Design cues from the XC90 are likely to be mirrored on the next V70.

Visible in the teaser shots is a similar squared-off rear light cluster, T-shaped front daytime running lights and prominent shoulder-line as the Concept XC Coupe, while the brand’s two-tone Ixion alloy wheels are visible, implying this is an R-Design model.

Further details are likely to be released in the run-up to the Geneva Motor Show.
