Volvo provide unique insight into development of C30 Electric EV

By / 12 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Between 250 and 300 EVs were leased to local authorities and businesses in the autumn of 2011, as part of an initiative by Volvo to gather valuable information into the driving and vehicle usage patterns of vehicle users, for a nominal monthly fee.

Driven by a 110bhp rear-mounted electric motor and with the car achieving 62mph in a claimed 10.5 seconds, the C30 Electric is able to achieve a maximum speed of 80mph. With a maximum mileage allowance of 95 miles, the vehicles capacity exceeds the average daily commuting distance of UK drivers and takes approximately ten hours to charge from empty.

However, with the number of fast-charge points set to rise in the near future, it is likely that motorists would soon be able to use the vehicle to cover greater distances, should Volvo announce plans to produce the model on a mass-market scale.
