Volvo launches car subscription service in UK

Volvo has introduced a car subscription service in the UK, intended to provide an attractive alternative to leasing or outright purchase for a single monthly payment.

The monthly subscription covers the car and everything else needed apart from fuel, with the option of adding insurance

The Care by Volvo service provides ongoing access to Volvo’s entire range of models, priced from £559 a month and including the car and everything else bar fuel.

Already successfully trialled and now available nationally, it’s said to be the most flexible service of its kind in the UK, covering more aspects of car ownership than any other comparable service currently on the market in the UK.

There’s no sign-up fee and no fixed-term agreement; customers can sign up online within seconds, with car delivery to their door if they prefer.

It’s the latest car subscription service to launch in the UK, following in the footsteps of Jaguar Land Rover’s latest service, now dubbed Pivotal, and the new Caasta.com solution, intended to challenge traditional fleet leasing. EV subscription service Onto has also recently expanded its fleet with a record-breaking 1,100-unit order for the Renault Zoe.

And tyre giant Bridgestone has even announced recently that it’s introduced a subscription model for tyres.

Under the Volvo scheme, all models in the current line-up are available, including a wide range of versions of each car.

Included in the price is scheduled servicing, wear-and-tear maintenance and repairs, replacement tyres and roadside assistance cover. Separate, dedicated Care by Volvo customer service teams have also been set up to deal with all subscription customer requirements.

Conor Horne, UK head of the Care by Volvo scheme, said: “In every aspect, we have designed Care by Volvo with the customer in mind – access to premium cars and a terrific range of services in a package that’s transparent, convenient and flexible. It is a great way for people to access the car they want, avoiding the complexities and the long-term commitments associated with traditional car ownership. Our subscription offer also makes for easy budgeting because it covers all the essentials apart from fuel, with the option of adding insurance.”

Interested customers can sign up for a 30-day trial, after which they can choose to change their car or end their subscription with three months’ notice.
