Volkswagen Passat gains new 95g/km BlueMotion models

The new variants use a modified version of the Passat’s entry-level 1.6-litre TDI 118bhp engine featuring SCR as well as BlueMotion modifications and married up to a six-speed manual gearbox only. The engine also features Stop/Start and battery regeneration systems.

The new unit delivers torque of 184lb.ft at 1,750rpm and offers a 0 to 62mph time of 10.8 seconds, while top speed is 130mph for the saloon – slightly higher than for the standard 1.6-litre engine.

For the estate model, the 0 to 62mph time is 11 seconds with a top speed of 129mph – again exceeding those of the standard 1.6-litre car.

Based on the entry-level S model, all BlueMotion Passat models feature a Post-Collision Braking System, mis-fuelling prevention and Driver Alert, as well as Volkswagen’s 6.5-inch ‘Composition Media’ infotainment system. The BlueMotion models also feature 17-inch alloy wheels with super-optimised low rolling resistance tyres, sports suspension (lowered by 15 mm), bespoke BlueMotion front and rear bumpers and BlueMotion badging and chrome grille highlights.

Passat and Passat Estate BlueMotion models are available to order now, with first deliveries expected in August. Prices for the BlueMotion model start at £23,200 OTR for the Passat saloon and rise to £24,750 for the estate.
