Volkswagen Golf previewed in design sketches

Volkswagen has issued two design sketches of the eighth-generation Golf, giving an insight into its design.

VW says the eighth-gen model will still be instantly recognisable as a Golf from all sides

Making its global debut in Wolfsburg on 24 October, the Golf will bring a design said to be “more dynamic than ever before” with the sketch indicating a full-width light signature. However, it will still be instantly recognisable as a Golf from all sides.

The interior sketch suggests a long horizontal digital dashboard, in line with the comments that the new-gen model will be a “a trendsetter in terms of its digitalised and connectivity-orientated interior world”, and it will also introduce new designs and materials.

A new engine line-up will bring mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains but the e-Golf is set to be discontinued due to the arrival of the ID.3.

The latest generation of the Golf is due to go on sale in December.
