Volkswagen boosts Golf value with three new trims

Volkswagen has updated the current Golf with three new trims ahead of the arrival of the eighth-gen model early next year.

The new Match Edition, GT Edition and R-Line Edition arrive ahead of next year’s eighth-gen model

Launched to bring added value to the run-out line-up, the Match Edition, GT Edition and R-Line Edition replace the existing Match, GT and R-Line specs, and cost £400 more but add in equipment worth £1,910. Additional features include two-zone climate control, LED headlights and a Winter Pack that provides heated front seats, headlight washers, heated windscreen washer jets and a low washer-fluid warning light.

Dale Piper, Golf product manager at Volkswagen UK, said: “The Golf already represents a compelling competitive value package, and the Edition trims only go to strengthen this.

“Even though it was launched in 2012, the current, seventh-generation, Golf continues to win comparison tests against newer rivals, and remains our best-selling car by a comfortable margin.”

Volkswagen also recently announced a price drop for the e-Golf of £2,765, ahead of the arrival of the recently unveiled ID.3, which will become its flagship electric hatchback.

Orders are now open for the Golf Edition trims, with deliveries starting in October.
