Volkswagen Arteon gets new entry-level trim

Volkswagen has updated the Arteon five-seater fastback with a new entry-point SE trim that brings pricing down to £33,085 OTR.

The SE trim joins the Arteon line-up as part of MY2020 changes

Joining the existing luxury-focused Elegance and sport-focused R-Line specifications as part of MY20 changes, the SE is initially offered with a single engine option – a 190hp 2.0-litre TSI petrol unit fitted with a seven-speed DSG returning an official WLTP combined 44.1mpg and NEDC Correlated CO2 emissions of 144g/km. A 150hp 2.0-litre TDI diesel with Active Cylinder technology will be available in the coming months, with a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG transmissions and marking a new entry point.

SE equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, full LED lights, adaptive cruise control with Front Assist, a Discover Navigation system with 8.0-inch touch screen display and three-zone climate control as well as two USB ports and front and rear parking sensors. It’s also fitted with Volkswagen’s Wireless App Connect system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Meanwhile, as part of the 2020 model year updates, the Elegance and R-Line trim levels now come with Discover Navigation Pro with 9.2-inch touchscreen, featuring the third-generation Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB3) which made its debut recently on the new Passat.

The MY2020 Arteon also brings small revisions in CO2 emissions for two variants. The 272hp 2.0-litre TSI DSG 4Motion is now rated at 161g/km with no change in VED while the 190hp 2.0-litre TDI DSG 4Motion has been rated at 130g/km CO2, which brings a VED reduction of £320, dropping the car’s on-the-road (OTR) price to £39,025 in Elegance specification, and £39,825 RRP OTR for the sportier R-Line.
