Vauxhall is gearing up its electrification programme, which will include Combo and Astra models by 2021 as part of an eight-vehicle electrified line-up.

The carmaker announced a year ago that by the end of 2020, it will have a total of four electrified models on offer, either plug-in hybrid or electric, while by 2024, there will be an electrified version of every model. This sits in line with PSA Group’s plans to have all its five brands offering electrified models by 2025.

Now, Vauxhall has said it will have eight electrified models on offer by 2021, adding in a plug-in hybrid Astra and electric Combo Cargo, Combo Life and Zafira Life – the latter referred to at last month’s Frankfurt Motor Show. These will join the electric versions of the Vivaro van and Mokka X replacement that arrive next year as well as the newly launched plug-in hybrid Grandland X and the imminently arriving Corsa-e.

“We will electrify our entire product portfolio by 2024. Further models will follow very soon after we made the start with the Corsa-e and the Grandland X Hybrid4 this year,” said Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller.
