Updated Peugeot 208 goes on sale

Priced from £11,695, the new model is again available in three and five-door body styles and features an updated front end with a new bumper, wider grille and new two-tone headlamps. The rear gains redesigned full LED light clusters that feature the brand’s signature 3D ‘claws’ motif and there’s also new 16 and 17-inch wheel options.

The 208 is available in 13 colours, including ‘textured paint’, with two interior and two exterior personalisation option packs on offer.

All engines now meet Euro 6 requirements, with CO2 emissions starting from 79g/km.

Petrol units see the PureTech range of three-cylinder units – either 1.0-litre 68hp or 1.2-litre 82hp – retained whilst the range gains the flagship 1.2-litre PureTech turbocharged 110hp S&S (Stop & Start) version. This is coupled with a five-speed manual or EAT6 automated gearbox and achieves CO2 emissions of 103g/km or 104g/km respectively.

Diesel choices comprise the 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel engine with three outputs, including the 75 and 100 S&S. The first of these, mated with a five-speed manual gearbox, is capable of 94.2mpg and 79g/km. The third choice is the 120 S&S which is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, which produces 94g/km of CO2.

Four trim levels are on offer: Access A/C, Active, Allure and the sports-style GT Line, which is a new addition to the range. Standard kit includes manual air conditioning and Bluetooth connectivity.

The range also includes 208 GTi, 208 GTi Prestige and 208 ‘GTi by Peugeot Sport’ three-door variants.
