Ultra Low Emission Zone to help drive EV adoption, says Qualcomm

By / 11 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The plans for the Ultra Low Emission zone will see only zero or low-emission vehicles enter the Capital during working hours. The move is intended to deliver dramatic benefits in air quality and provide a major spur for the further development and mass take-up of zero and low-emission vehicles.

Dr Anthony Thomson, VP business development and marketing at Qualcomm, commented: ‘Qualcomm is very supportive of forward-thinking initiatives, which encourage the adoption of EVs, and welcomes Boris Johnson’s plans to create an Ultra Low Emission Zone for vehicles entering central London.

‘Qualcomm believes such initiatives will help to push EVs towards their inevitable tipping point. Qualcomm is playing its part by deploying a trial of Wireless EV Charging (WEVC) in the city of London to demonstrate how WEVC can help drive the adoption of low-emission electric and hybrid vehicles within mega cities.’

Qualcomm is currently running a wireless electric vehicle charging (WEVC) trial in London to test its Qualcomm Halo technology with partners including Addison Lee, TfL, Renault and Chargemaster, an initiative supported by David Cameron.
