UK fleets running vehicles for longer

The annual fleet research, which interviewed more than 4,500 fleet decision makers across 15 countries, shows that in the past year the proportion of companies running their cars and vans for longer in the UK is greater than in other European countries.

In the UK, the proportion of businesses running their vehicles for longer is a consistent one across smaller and larger companies for both their cars and vans. However, a greater proportion of smaller companies kept their vehicles for less time when compared with larger companies.

Robert Pieczka, marketing & insurance director at Arval, commented: “There is no one size fits all approach to company vehicles and the duration that works for one business may not be optimal for another. Factors like mileage, usage, the loads that the vehicle is carrying and the environment within which they operate should all factor into the decision.”

He added: “We are seeing smaller companies reacting to the environment that they operate in, and the positive economic conditions combined with growing business confidence are proving a catalyst for employees to change, and often upgrade their cars within this segment.”
