UK car manufacturing rises in July
UK car output rebounded in July as carmakers ramped up production ahead of summer factory shutdowns.
Overall output rose 7.8% last month according to the figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), with 136,397 new units rolling off UK production lines. Production for the UK rose 17.7%, following seven successive months of decline, while exports grew by 5.3%.
Year-to-date new car production stands at just over one million units, down 1.6% compared with 2016, and the SMMT said it expects output to remain in line with expectations for the rest of 2017.
