The new fuel savings calculator is available online via Tusker's fleet management platform, Fleetdesk, and is included as an additional service for drivers who have decided to select a car by sacrificing a proportion of their salary using Tusker's SalarySacrifice4Cars scheme (SS4C).

The driver simply enters details of his or her current car including fuel type and fuel consumption, and the new car they are considering choosing under Tusker's SS4C scheme, into the system.

The system automatically populates the fuel consumption based on the driver's vehicle selection, and the fuel cost calculator then works out how much cheaper the new car would be in terms of fuel costs compared to the current vehicle.

The fuel cost savings are shown on a final online summary page, immediately prior to placing the new car order, which allows the driver to see a combination of cost savings in tax, National Insurance and fuel costs on one screen when compared to the costs of running their existing vehicle. It gives a complete picture of the overall savings that their new salary sacrifice vehicle would generate.

The new initiative comes at a time when prices at the fuel pumps have reached record levels. In the latest AA fuel prices report, the AA puts the average price of a gallon of unleaded petrol at 121.5p per litre and diesel at 122.9p per litre throughout the UK, while petrol prices website www.petrolprices.com puts national prices at an average 118.5p per litre for unleaded and 120.8p per litre for diesel.
