TTC wins contract for driver education courses in Wales

TTC Group has pledged to place the Welsh language even further at the heart of delivery after it was awarded the contract to deliver driver education courses for Gwent, South Wales and North Wales Police.

TTC has been awarded the contract to deliver driver education courses for Gwent, South Wales and North Wales Police through to 2024

The latest contract win sees the road safety and driver training specialist continue its relationship with the three forces for a further four years, providing training and awareness programmes under the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS).

This will involve delivering National Speed Awareness; Safe and Considerate Driving; Rider Intervention and Development Experience; ‘What’s Driving Us?’; and National Motorway Awareness courses from strategically selected venues across Wales.

The group had already introduced two Welsh language co-ordinators in 2018 and has committed to recruiting even more Welsh speaking trainers to add to its expert team of trainers.

The aim is to ensure people participating in the courses will have the chance to complete the training in Welsh at a venue and time slot of their choice, including mornings, afternoons and weekends.

“We recognise the importance of the Welsh language in our delivery and are passionate about making sure that they have a team of bilingual trainers who can offer all of the courses, at all of the venues in Welsh or English,” explained Mick Hartill, TTC Group regional manager for North Wales.

“Venues have also been chosen to support local businesses and community projects, whilst also ensuring participation is as accessible as possible. Our online system is robust and efficient to make bookings simple and easy to complete in both languages.”
