TRACKER launches new traffic and travel service
In fact, data from TRACKER highlights the extent to which firms have been hit by "the big freeze", showing that there has been up to a 32% reduction on journeys by business drivers trying to avoid poor traffic conditions.
'We compared the number of journeys across the total fleet of our tracking equipped vehicles in July 2009 and January 2010, which revealed a 32% reduction,' said Stephen Doran, managing director of TRACKER. 'Our clients' fleets comprise a high percentage of light commercial vehicles and it is clear that the snow caused a major drop in activity. This would have had a negative impact on businesses trying to make deliveries or provide services, making it a difficult start to the year.'
Originally scheduled for launch later in 2010, the new online traffic and travel service allows users to view detailed information to help them plan their journey. The service can be accessed by visiting www.tracker.co.uk and clicking on the Traffic tab.
Using standard Google map controls, TRACKER Traffic and Travel means businesses can find their chosen location, view and display up-to-date local traffic congestion, roadside cameras, roadworks and accidents, allowing them to avoid unnecessary delays.
There's also a TRACKER Traffic and Travel hotline, accessed from any mobile by dialling 60010, which will also keep drivers up to date and on the move.
