Top fleets register for Fleet Show at Silverstone

Fleet managers operating up to 5,000 vehicles are amongst the pre-registrations for this year’s Show, along with many hundreds of other high quality fleet decision makers.

Last year’s event attracted higher numbers of top quality fleet decision-makers than ever before – up 25% on the previous year – and the audience has increased in size every year since the first event was held in 2011. At this year’s Show, the audience will be audited by the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) for the first time.

“We were delighted with the quality of the audience last year, and this year look sets to be higher still,” said Jerry Ramsdale, Fleet Show director and publisher of Fleet World.

“Our message that the Fleet Show offers a unique experience in terms of test driving, exhibition, education and networking, is clearly getting across to fleet decision-makers. And we believe this year’s Show on Wednesday will again offer this same, fantastic full-day experience,” he said.

The Fleet Show has already attracted some 21 vehicle manufacturers with up to 300 vehicles for visitors to put through their paces on three circuits of the world-famous Silverstone Grand Prix venue, plus a road route in the vicinity.

This will give fleet managers the opportunity to evaluate the very latest conventionally powered vehicles, alongside pure electric and hybrid models, many of which are making their UK debuts.

The organisers are expecting test drives to hit record levels again after driving at last year’s Show increased by 20%.

However, this year all driving licences will be checked by Jaama to ensure they are valid and it’s essential that you bring your original driving licence with you to the show,

As the paper counterpart is no longer valid, you now need to show evidence of what vehicles you can drive and any penalty points you may have.  This information can be requested from www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

To access it you will need:

  • Your driving licence number
  • The postcode on your driving licence
  • Your national insurance number

This will allow you to print out your licence information beforehand and bring it with you to the Show and should enable faster access.

But, if you don’t have time to do this, then simply bring the information above with you and the licence verification can be carried out on the day.

The Fleet Show isn’t simply about test driving, however, and a visit to Silverstone provides an appealing mix of education, networking and static displays that guarantee a day out of the office will not be wasted.

On the education front, a new Question Time-style interactive session will be led by industry experts from the Department for Transport, Thatcham Research, Buckingham Business School, ACFO and the BVRLA and will tackle some of the leading fleet and business topics of the day, as well as addressing concerns from the floor.

The new-style session will debate issues such as such as the future of the sector, the impact of a potential Brexit, company car taxation and the economy.

Meanwhile, the Silverstone Wing will again play host to a wide-ranging fleet exhibition boasting a diverse array of exhibitors. This area will also provide Show visitors with the chance to hold face-to-face meetings and socially interact with exhibitors and other visitors alike.

Jerry Ramsdale added: “We had a record Fleet Show at Silverstone last year – and our aim is to deliver a better Show still this week.

“We were delighted with the quality of the audience last year, with many decision-makers realising that the Show offered the perfect balance between test driving and education. And because we are so confident in the numbers and quality of our audience, we have decided to have it audited and published by the ABC for the first time.”

Pre-registration for this year’s event is now closed but visitors will still be able to register at the door on the day.
