The ecoPLUS device connects to a vehicle’s onboard diagnostic solution and enables the tracking of data such as fuel efficiency, driver behaviours and carbon footprint, which can be used to generate significant savings on fuel costs and emissions according to TomTom.

TomTom ecoPLUS forms a part of the WORKsmart-Eco solution that helps businesses to optimise vehicle utilisation and encourage eco-friendly driving behaviour, thus reducing both distance travelled and fuel consumption. ecoPLUS uses information available from the vehicle and sends this via Bluetooth to the in-car TomTom LINK 300/310, which in turn relays the information instantly to fleet managers using TomTom WEBFLEET.

The device uses technology supplied by Lysanda to provide data on vehicle fuel consumption and wastage to help reduce vehicle fleet running costs. On average, Lysanda, which is a leading provider of advanced technology for vehicle fuel savings, says that reductions of between 15 and 20% can be realised through improving driving behaviour using the in-vehicle driver aid and management reporting tools.

We can now offer control over both costs and carbon footprint for passenger cars, light commercial vehicles as well as heavy trucks,' said Mr Schmidt. Real-time vehicle data provided in WEBFLEET includes fuel consumption, CO2 emission, RPM, gear and idling allowing fleet managers to view performance at any given time of the journey. The WEBFLEET dashboard and reporting functionality help measure performance against targets set.
