Thames Valley Police contracts Thrifty to meet flexible rental needs

By / 14 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

The contract was awarded following a tender process that included seven competitors. Thrifty was chosen for its professionalism and ability to provide a high standard of service and vehicles.

Ian Godolphin, head of Chiltern Transport Consortium from Thames Valley Police, said: 'We have appointed Thrifty Car & Van Rental as our primary supplier as the company fulfilled our stringent criteria. Being a police force, it is vital that any hire vehicles are well maintained and presented to uphold our image and ensure the safety of our staff and the public. Thrifty’s professional approach, the high standards of their vehicles and resilience to meet demand at short notice, were all factors in our decision.'

Thames Valley Police is the lead force for Chiltern Transport Consortium (CTC) serving Bedfordshire Police, Civil Nuclear Constabulary, Hertfordshire Constabulary and Thames Valley Police. The CTC Forces often requires cars, LCVs and people carriers for operational activities such as travelling to meetings and training courses, as well as supporting major incidents and out of force investigations. In these situations, it is not viable to use marked police cars for non-emergency use and using Thrifty’s services on a flexible basis helps the organisation to keep operational costs down as it eliminates having additional vehicles on the permanent fleet.

Caroline Gallagher from Thrifty Car & Van Rental said: 'We are definitely seeing more organisations turning to flexible fleet options to meet temporary increases in vehicle demand. Supporting Thames Valley Police and Chiltern Transport Consortium by supplementing the core fleet means that as a public service they can run their operations as efficiently as possible which is vital when they are accountable for spending.'
