Tesla extends UK fast charge network to Birmingham

By / 6 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Located at Hyatt Regency Hotels in Portman Square, London, and Bridge Street, Birmingham, the units offer an 80% charge in around half an hour – enough to travel around 200 miles without stopping in a Model S.

Georg Ell, Tesla’s UK Country Director, said: ‘Both Hyatt Regency hotels offer a great base for Model S owners whilst charging. With everything from bars and restaurants through to business centres and gym facilities, there is plenty to keep you occupied for your 30 minute charge.’

Supercharging is included in the cost of the higher-capacity 85kW battery pack in the Model S, and the service is provided for free, for life. The site in Birmingham is the first outside London, and enables the Model S to travel further north, while units near the Capital link it to a European network spanning from Norway to southern France.

Tesla’s own website shows near-future additions to the network will electrify the M4, followed by the South Coast, Manchester, Yorkshire and the M5 near Exeter by the start of next year.
