Technical details revealed for Lexus LS 500h
Lexus has debuted the LS 500h hybrid version of its flagship model at the Geneva Motor Show.
Built on the new Lexus Global Architecture – Luxury platform, the LS 500h brings a longer wheelbase than the current LS – up from 3,090mm to 3,125mm and features the brand’s new Multi Stage Hybrid System. Also seen in the LC 500h, this combines a 3.5-litre V6 Dual VVT-i V6 petrol engine and two electric motors, married up to a four-speed transmission which brings a simulated shift control pattern that Lexus says gives the feeling of a 10-speed gearbox.
Total output is 349bhp with a 0 to 62mph time of 5.4 seconds. The LS 500h can also operate in full electric mode at speeds up to 87mph.
Although the LS 500 is exclusively all-wheel drive, the LS 500h will also be offered in both rear and all-wheel drive versions.
The LS 500h also brings the updated Lexus Safety System+ package, which includes a new advanced safety system, bringing an intuitive pedestrian detection function with active steering among other technologies.
