Targa Lite telematics solution to help fleets cut fuel costs

European big data specialist Targa Telematics has launched a new telematics solution to help fleets optimise operations through more efficient running.

Targa Lite can help fleets verify mileage claims and also monitor excessive fuel usage

The Targa Lite solution enables operators to efficiently manage refuelling and to optimise fleet maintenance costs, in particular for driver mileage claims and fuel costs, but without geolocation to avoid issues with driver privacy.

Based on the company’s connected vehicle experience, it makes use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and generates insights based on the work calendar, fuel card data and a tolerance threshold set by each fleet manager. Fleets can then monitor fuel data and, based on tailor-made monitoring, can decide whether to apply corrective measures to the entire fleet, parts thereof or specific groups.

Targa Lite also offers the possibility to implement and track proactive actions to raise awareness over excess fuel costs.

“With Targa Lite, our goal is to provide a valuable tool to support the daily operations of the fleet manager,” Alberto Falcione, Targa Telematics sales VP. “A tool that brings consistent savings not only to the company but also to the employee and the community, in terms of reducing waste and fuel use.”

The device has already been installed by retail marketing solutions provider DPV. It’s using the solution on over 300 vehicles and says it’s on track for a potential ROI of 351% in one year, as well as a possible reduction in costs from reduced fuel usage.
