On sale in January 2022 and priced from £24,999, the second-generation S-Cross makes more of a statement with beefier styling, including a raised bonnet line, piano black front grille and new LED headlights, in addition to roof rails and integrated rear spoiler.

This is accompanied by a more spacious and versatile interior and higher standard and safety specification.

Grading structure has been revised to two models: Motion and Ultra. Standard specification fitted to both new trims includes Apple CarPlay & Android Auto smartphone link, keyless entry and start, dual-zone auto air conditioning, heated front seats, front and rear parking sensors.

The Ultra specification augments this with 360-view camera, leather upholstery, onboard navigation and large sliding panoramic sunroof.

Standard driver assistance tech brings dual Sensor Brake Support automated braking, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Cruise Control on both versions.

Just one engine is offered – a 129hp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with mild hybrid technology teamed up with a six-speed manual transmission or the option of a six-speed automatic on both grades for an extra £1,350. It comes with two-wheel drive on the entry-level Motion or four-wheel drive on the Ultra.

CO2 emissions start from 120g/km with fuel consumption up to 53.2mpg – beating key competitors and bringing lower fuel costs, according to the brand.

The new S-Cross goes on sale in the UK in January 2022.
