Suzuki reveals pricing and specs for Swace hybrid estate

Suzuki’s brand-new Swace hybrid estate is to launch this month, priced from £27,499 and with CO2 emissions of 99g/km.

Suzuki’s Swace hybrid estate imminently launches in the UK

Based on the Corolla Touring Sports, the Swace was revealed earlier this year and is the second car to launch under Suzuki’s tie-up with Toyota, following the reveal of the RAV4-based ‘Across’ model earlier this summer.

It will be manufactured in the UK at Toyota’s Burnaston plant and sales of 2,000 units are planned per year in the UK. It will also be exported to Europe.

Design-wise, although its Corolla Touring Sports origins are clear, it does get a revised front-end. It also offers a 596-litre luggage compartment with a choice of levels for the boot floor and a remote folding lever to fold the rear seats, giving a load space of up to 1,606 litres (1,591 in the Corolla Touring Sports).

One engine will be offered: Toyota’s 1.8-litre hybrid CVT drivetrain used as the Corolla’s entry-level unit, featuring a 102hp 1.8-litre petrol with a 72hp electric motor and a CVT transmission. The powertrain has a combined output of 122hp and WLTP combined fuel consumption of 64.2mpg with CO2 emissions of 99g/km. It also includes an EV dedicated mode, ideal for residential areas, and three driving modes, covering Normal, Eco or Sport.

Two trims will be offered: the £27,499 SZ-T and the £29,299 SZ5.

Standard specification for the SZ-T includes seven airbags, dual zone automatic air conditioning, 7.0-inch LCD colour screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto device connectivity, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, rear parking camera and dynamic radar cruise control. Pre-collision system is also fitted as standard.

The SZ5 adds smart door locking, simple-intelligent park assist, front and rear park distance sensors, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert and centre console tray incorporating a wireless charger.
