The new mild-hybrid powertrain is available for the Suzuki Swift Sport, Vitara and S-Cross and claims up to 17% lower CO2 emissions and WLTP combined fuel economy than before, as well as improved torque – 235Nm available from 2,000rpm.

The new K14D Boosterjet turbocharged engine replaces the 1.4-litre Boosterjet. Further improvements include the addition of Automated Emergency Braking as standard for the Swift Sport, Vitara and S-Cross.

The new ’48V Hybrid Powertrain’ has fuel saving features including electric motor idling when the clutch is disengaged and the engine speed is below 1,000rpm, which uses the electric motor to maintain engine idling below 50mph and until the engine automatic stop activates below 10mph. The new powertrain only adds 15kg to the overall vehicle weight.

Pricing for the three new mild-hybrid models and available derivatives are as follows:

Swift Sport 1.4 Boosterjet Hybrid £21,570
