SsangYong scales up for new EV with director of aftersales appointment
SsangYong Motors UK has appointed Mark Burrows as director of aftersales, with immediate effect, as it looks to grow its dealer network ahead of plans to launch its first electric vehicle.
Burrows started his career as an apprentice technician with Mitsubishi Motors, moving on to several different roles within the company, including regional sales manager and field sales manager. He then went onto join the Mitsubishi Ralliart team in 1999 as national sales manager, before joining the then-emerging Korean brand, Kia.
He left to join Triumph Motorcycles in 2003 before moving to Harley-Davidson in 2008 and then to Tesla as regional service manager before joining Jaguar Land Rover Classic, where he was responsible for parts, accessories and lifestyle portfolio products.
His new role as director of aftersales at SsangYong Motors UK sees him become responsible for SsangYong’s aftersales strategy as well as for the firm’s port operation at Avonmouth.
Nick Laird, managing director for SsangYong Motors UK, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Mark to the team at SsangYong. With his wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise, he will be invaluable to us as we develop and grow our vehicle parc, sales and dealer network in the UK. He also brings fresh thinking from some great other automotive brands, from which we can learn and help to keep our customers happier, and for longer. His electric vehicle experience will be invaluable as we look to launch a new electric vehicle shortly.”
