Sporty R-Design trim takes lion’s share of Volvo fleet registrations

Volvo’s sporty R-Design trim level remains the most popular with company car drivers, analysis of 2016 sales data has found.

Volvo XC60

The R-Design trim accounts for 65% of V40 and 50% of XC60 fleet sales in 2016 to date

Available on all models, the R-Design variant, accounted for 65% of all V40s registrations to date this year and 50% of XC60s.

The XC60 FWD D4 R-Design was the most popular variant for business drivers thanks to CO2 emissions of 117g/km and a BiK rate of 23%; it’s also VED exempt for the first year until April 2017.

Dominic Gill, business sales operations manager, Volvo Car UK, said: “The average company car has to tick a number of boxes if it is to be added to a choice list or a user chooser’s shortlist.

“Our R-Design models offer a great blend of driving dynamics, visual impact and efficiency. It’s no surprise that the UK is one of the most popular markets for the variant.”
