Speed awareness classes cancelled during outbreak

Speed awareness and other classes on the NDORS scheme have been cancelled for 12 weeks to support government guidance in the coronavirus outbreak.

All classroom-based courses run by UKROEd have been suspended for 12 weeks

The announcement came from UKROEd, which manages the scheme on behalf of the police service, and applies to all classroom-based education courses run by the organisation as an alternative to prosecution for motoring offences.

This includes the National Speed Awareness Course (NSAC), Safe and Considerate Driving (SCD) course and the National Motorway Awareness Course (NMAC).

Drivers who have already been offered a course have been contacted to explain options.

A spokesperson for UKROEd said: “This is the right thing to do to help protect individual’s health and reduce the risks associated with a wider spread of the virus.”
