This year’s seminar programme, held in the state-of-the-art Silverstone Wing conference centre and sponsored by ARI Fleet UK, will provide up-to-date information on the latest technology and mobility issues in the fleet market.

Speakers at this year’s Show, on Wednesday 24th April, include Paul Nieuwenhuis, director of the Centre for Automotive Industry Research at Cardiff Business School, who will report back on the key findings of the ENEVATE (European Network of Electric Vehicles and Transferring Expertise) project.

He will be followed by Rob Anderson of CENEX who will explain some of the latest low-carbon developments the centre is currently testing and how these will impact on fleets in years to come.

Professor Kevin Kendall from the University of Birmingham’s Centre for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Research will then explain how fuel cell hybrids are poised to play a key role in the development of low-emission fleet mobility.

And Michael Baker, chief engineer, ITS and Connected Services, at global automotive consultancy Ricardo, will discuss the EC-funded SARTRE project. This looks at the development of transport solutions that allow vehicles to drive in carefully controlled "platoons" to reduce fuel consumption, increase safety, improve road congestion and increase driver convenience.

Following the seminar programme, Venson Automotive Solutions will, for the second year, be hosting a "Question Time" style panel discussion session where delegates will be able to question a panel of specially selected guests on a wide range of fleet topics. Experts on the panel include financial expert David Rawlings, Rob Anderson of CENEX and Alan McCleave, business development director at Venson.

The culmination of the conference programme will be a Fleet & Mobility Workshop, chaired by Nigel Trotman, head of strategic consultancy at international leasing company, Alphabet. Nigel and his team of experts will be presenting ideas on alternative ways of achieving corporate mobility while ensuring maximum business efficiency.

The seminar and workshop programme will be the perfect complement to the driving thrills available on offer. With more than 200 cars from 21 vehicle manufacturers available to drive, double the number last year and with more than three times the track space, the Show is set to be the biggest and best yet.

Fleet decision-makers will be able to drive cars on public roads and on both the Grand Prix and Stowe racing circuits, along with "hot laps" in the company of qualified racing drivers.

At the same time, the final of the Fleet Driver of the Year competition, organised by ALD Automotive in conjunction with Peak Performance and Toyota & Lexus Fleet Services, will be held live at the Show.

Meanwhile, the Silverstone Wing indoor exhibition area will play host to exhibits from a number of leading fleet service suppliers and providers. But such has been the interest in this year’s Show that the exhibition is now double the size of the 2012 event.
