Second FIAG workshop to focus on telematics

The Telematics Workshop and mentoring session will be held on Wednesday 12th November at the Arnold Clark Group’s GTG Training Academy, Bearing Drive, Wolverhampton, WV11 3SZ.

Fleet decision-makers and FIAG founding members Graham Bellman (Travis Perkins) and Martin Carter (Stannah) will each discuss why they have embraced telematics across their respective fleets, the benefits accrued and issues that they have overcome.

Additionally:

  • Ian Brooks, a former Metropolitan Police chief inspector and director of Oscar Strategic Consulting, which assists employers in managing their occupational road risk, will explain how telematics can assist with corporate compliance and best practice strategies
  • Mike Appleby, a health and safety lawyer and partner in London-based Bivonas, will tackle the legal pitfalls and explain how “getting it wrong” can prove to be a corporate nightmare
  • Mark Edwards, director of risk management experts Automotional, will explain how to interpret telematics data to compile action plans in terms of improving driver safety, reducing accidents and cutting fleet fuel use.

The event, which represents the group’s second workshop since it was founded earlier this year, will also provide workshop delegates with an opportunity to quiz the founding members of FIAG on key fleet issues in one-to-one sessions.

The team, led by FIAG chairman Geoffrey Bray, who has more than 50 years fleet industry experience, is offering 20-minute one-to-one sessions on a pre-booked basis.

In addition to the workshop speakers, the FIAG founding members also include: Ged Raymond (fleet manager, Autoglass), Ian Housley (health, safety, environment and quality director, Clancy Group), Ian Hill (managing director, Activa Contracts), Andy Neale (director and co-founder Automotional) Chuck Ives (former Network Rail fleet boss), Peter Weston (fleet chief at Home Retail Group), and Freddie Watts (fleet and transport contracts manager at Office Depot).

The workshop and mentoring session is open to FIAG members and fleet decision-makers interested in joining the organisation. The workshop is free and places can be booked via the FIAG website at www.fiag.co.uk. Annual FIAG membership is currently available at a cost of £350.
