Saltash an ‘outpost’ at the heart of Manheim Auctions’ national network

By / 13 years ago / Latest News / No Comments

Thanks to Simulcast, Manheim’s online broadcast of live auctions, local dealers and fleet operators can have their vehicles presented to the widest possible national audience of trade buyers. Recently vehicles offered at the weekly Tuesday and Thursday auctions at Saltash have been sold to trade buyers from as far away in the UK as Belfast, Doncaster and Liverpool and even to buyers in Cyprus and Malta.

It isn’t just those selling that benefit from Simulcast, as West Country trade buyers can also bid on vehicles offered at any one of Manheim’s 17 auction centres, providing a wide choice of used vehicles to satisfy demand in the local market. Vehicles destined for Cornwall have been bought from as far away as Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester.

The appetite for good quality used cars was clearly evident recently when a record number of 130 buyers attended a special ‘summer sale’ at Saltash, with a further 30 trade buyers logged online to bid for 180 vehicles from Vospers, Yeomans and CC Trade. The bidding for the cars, which included a two year old Land Rover Freelander, a six year old Audi A4 convertible and a 20 year old Lexus 450, was very lively with good values achieved and most cars sold.

Nick Garbutt, Auction Centre manager at Saltash said: ‘Simulcast technology meets the needs of both local vendors and buyers. It ensures that vehicles offered at our weekly auctions can be bought by trade buyers throughout the country and it also means that local dealers and used car traders have a great selection of vehicles to choose from, to offer for sale in the area. Saltash may be considered by many as an outpost but it certainly doesn’t feel like it, especially when record numbers of buyers are attending auctions
