The brand has reported record sales of 2,142,000 for last year, up by 16.3% and delivering a 3% worldwide market share.

A total of 46% of sales were achieved outside Europe, up 6 points versus 2009. This growth, especially strong in the second half-year, was boosted by the brand's priority development zones: Asia (+38.9%), Russia (+34%) and Latin America (+24%), as well as in the Africa/Middle East zone.

In Europe, Peugeot saw its sales grow for the third year running, up by 3.3%. Its cars and light commercial vehicles market share increased by 0.3% versus 2009, up to 7.6%. Peugeot moved up one place, becoming the fourth marque on the European market for the first time in its history.

Commenting on its plans for 2011, the marque said that it will expand its product offensive with the sale of the 508 in Europe and China, an increased number of low CO2 emission vehicles with e-HDi technology, the public launch of the iOn electric car and the arrival in the second half-year of its 3008 HYbrid4 diesel hybrid.

It also said it will continue its international offensive, introducing the 408 in Latin America; and further developing its service offers. This includes the opening of another 75 "Mu by Peugeot" sites in Europe, opening iOn reservations in February in France, Italy, Spain and Holland, adapting a services contract for the new 508 in each market and ensuring availability of the services contracts offer on the internet in Europe.
